October is here which means we are heading in the last quarter of 2011. The older I get I'm always so amazed at how much faster the years go by. For my kids, a year lasts forever! They are having trouble even waiting for Halloween at the end of the month. They have trouble remembering back more than a year. I, on the other hand, feel like time if flying some days. I feel like it was only yesterday that I was coming home from the hospital with my newborn son who is now six years old.

I recently printed my album fom 2010. My kiddos and I are loving to look through it. My kids love to see what they looked like back then and it helps them remember things from last year. I think it also helps to give them a sense of time line so that they begin to understand past, present, and future. When I look at it I am reminded of how full each year is and how much my family has actually accomplished in what felt like a whirlwind.

Free Member Area

I'm happy to announce that I'm starting a new series of tutorials in the Free Member section of the forum on setting up preferences in Photoshop Elements. So far we have two great tutorials.

Floating Documents: In the newest versions of PSE, the default view for documents in your work space area is to have them all open together with tabs that allow you to view each one at a time. I prefer to have "Floating Documents" so that I can see multiple documents open in the same area. Here is how to do that.

Resize and Save Layouts For Uploading Online: There are many ways to do this, but let me walk you through my favorite method or resizing, sharpening, and saving a layout to make it ready to share on the web.

I'm looking for more ideas about what to add here, so if you would like to comment, just head to our blog post and leave your input.

Subscriber Area

This months' class is all about text. This is perfect timing because Adobe came out with Photoshop Elements 10 just weeks ago that now includes text on a path. In the first week of class we learned all about tips and techniques for the text tool, including filling a space with text and creating text on a path. Here are a few screen shots from those lessons:

During the rest of the class we will be looking at how to alter and create word art and also some great techniques to use for fabulous titles. If you are already in this class with us I hope you are having a blast and learning tons. If you would like to participate with us, you just need to sign up for a class membership – deals go as low as $4 a month. And don't worry, the class stays in the paid member area so you can still work through it even after this month is over.

Introducing Our New Store

I'm so excited to announce that I've opened up a store at Digital Scrapbooking Classes.

The store offers two options. First, you can purchase any of the classes that are offered to our Class Subscribers individually. Each class is priced at $6. With the purchase you get to download all of the lessons that go with that class. It is a great way for you to try out a class before you commit to a subscription, or perfect if you are simply interested in the lessons from one class an don't want a full subscription.

In addition, I am now selling layered templates in the store. Each template or template pack is $1 and there are options for buying custom bundles and saving money. I use to sell my templates at Sunshine Studio Scraps, but that store sadly closed this month, so I'm moving them to Digital Scrapbooking Classes. If these deals aren't sweet enough, I will soon be offering all of the templates in the store for FREE to our class subscribers. So if you are a paid subscriber stay tuned for more information!
