PostHeaderIcon Places To Check Out

Have you checked out their site before?

I was initially drawn to their site for this:

What is it you ask?  Well it is a memory logbook.  It is a calendar/journal specifically designed for scrapbookers.  How cool is that?!  There are monthly and daily pages.  There are pages designed with spaces for you to journal, sketch pages, doodle, make notes, etc.  And there are pages with fun questions to answer about your life and your year to use as scrapping inspiration.  You can actually see all of the pages on their web site if you are interested.  You can buy it spiral bound as pictured here, loose leaf, or in digital format to print yourself, or I suppose even just use digitally.

I was poking around their site and found a couple of other things that may interest some of our readers here.

*They have a book of weekly challenges to inspire your layouts.  You can check out some samples on their site, and you can buy it separate or combined with the journal from above.

*They have a gallery where you can browse for inspiration or share your latest creations.

*If you are interested in finding more, here is their introduction page.

Have fun and keep scrapping memories!

Happy Black Friday!  Just wanted to pass on to you the announcement from Adobe that they are having a huge Black Friday Sale.  Adobe Photoshop Elements is the software that I use to scrap with and LOVE.  And this weekend you can pick it up from Adobe for 50% off which is an amazing deal.  Check it out here:

Here is their ad. And after wandering around their site for a bit, here is the page where you can purchase any of their discounted products.  Sale ends November 29, so now is the time to treat yourself or step up the hints for what you'd like for Christmas.

Let me introduce you to a fun scrapbooking site I came across this last week:

One Story Down

They just finished their Holiday Kick-Off Bash and had quite a few fun challenges and inspiring posts.  There is a ton of fabulous inspiration there and more being posted almost daily.  Would you like to see fabulous printer trays?  Or how about some great autumn printables?  Or maybe you would like to be inspired by some gallery pretties or read about ideas for capturing every day life in your photographs.

And if none of that inspiration grabs you, then maybe you would be interested in some of the freebies that are offered in different posts.

So head on over and check them out and while you're there, you may want to check out the team calls they are having too.

Have you heard of Me So Scrappy?

I have found myself checking them out a lot recently and wanted to share it with you.  The site has been around for almost a year now and was established as a way to feature and get to know the people in the digital scrapbooking community.  They feature one designer each week with great questions so you can get to know them.  The designer shares some personal and designing information and sometimes a coupon.  This week they are featuring Kay Miller.  You can check it out here.

They also have blog posts that share highlights of products from around digi land as well as daily gallery stand-outs.  They are a great read and super fun place to go for ideas and inspiration.

In addition to the blog posts, the site hosts a gallery.  When I clicked to see the layouts posted in the last day it pulled up 219 layouts!  Browsing through those will definately give you tons of yummy things to look at spark your scrapping mojo.

If you're not a huge blog reader, you can also follow them on facebook or twitter.

Photoshop Elements is such a powerful piece of software.  While I have learned a ton about it's capabilities over the last 6 years by playing around with it, I am still finding out new things each week.  One of the places I turn to for tips and help is Photoshop Elements Techniques.  While Digital Scrapbooking Classes is the best place to learn about scrapbooking with PSE (I know I'm a bit bias), Photoshop Elements Techniques is one of the best places I've found for tips on editing your pictures in PSE.  In simplest form it is a magazine you can subscribe to, but once you are a subscriber you also get access to all sorts of things on their website including pdf downloads of all previous issues.  You should check them out!

One of my favorite places to send brand new digital scrapbookers is to Shabby Princess because she has some wonderful free kits for people to play around with and try out digital scrapbooking.

Now, before I share more about Shabby Princess with you, let me take a side step and share with you my feeling about freebies.  I love getting things for free (who doesn't), but I also love buying my digital scrapbooking supplies.  Probably 80% of the time I'd say that you get what you pay for.  Many of the free digital scrapbooking graphics out there are created by people who have fun creating and love to share, but do not yet have the skills to create things high quality enough to sell much.  There are, however, many designers that will offer some free designs as a way for people to check them out.  These are the ones I would recommend you focus on picking up.  I think that new digital scrapbookers especially, should look to pick up some freebies to use as they are learning.  It helps you to find what you like before you start buying things.  I would also recommend not downloading everything you find or you will become overwhelmed with all the supplies.  Instead, download what you will actually use.  The other thing I like to keep in mind is that so many digital scrapbooking designers work so hard and make very little money at it.  If I download a freebie from one of them and really like, I like to go back and pick up something from their store when I have some money to spend. :)

Now, back to Shabby Princess!  She has been digital scrapbooking since 2004 and creates gorgeous designs.  She even has some that have been turned into a paper scrapbooking line.  You can check out her digital scrapbooking designs at The Shabby Shoppe.  Here are a couple of kits I found there, but there are also templates, printables, word art, and much mores.

Shabby Princess also keeps up a great blog, with the help of her creative team.  The blog is a great place to get scrapbooking tips, layout inspiration, news on the latest products, and even some addition freebies including a computer desktop quickpage each month.

And of course, there are the freebies at Shabby Princess that I talked about already.  This was one of the first places I ever downloaded supplies when I was started and the freebies have gotten even better since then.  Here is the latest free kit that I just picked up.

You too can get it here.
