Text is such an important part of digital scrapbooking.  There are some layouts where pictures can speak the whole memory or thought, but often we need to add text in the form of titles, captions, journaling, or background to help complete the story we want to tell.

In this class we will be talking about many different tips and techniques for using text in Photoshop Elements on digital scrapbooking layouts.

Week 1:

We will be looking at a large list of tips of techniques around using the text tool.  We will look at how to manipulate text boxes, how to better view fonts, and how to use text on a path (both with the new tools in PSE 10 and in older versions).  We will also talk about finding and installing fonts this week.

Week 2:

Week 2 is all about word art.  There are so many amazing pieces of word art out there that you can add to your layouts.   However, the options get even more extensive if you know how to alter the word art to fit the needs and look of your layout.  So this week we will start by learning many tricks for altering word art.  We will change the color both of the whole and of just sections.  We will alter the size of words within the art an change there positions.  Basically, with the skills from this lesson you will be able to customize almost any word art you find.  We will end the week by learning how to create your own word art from scratch, including some tips for making it easier to get just the right look!

Week 3:

Week three will be focused on effects to use with the text.  These tricks will often be used for creating titles for your page.  We will learn to make our own alphas, cut letters out of paper, and use the effects in PSE to create fun text effects.  We will then end the week with some fun examples of putting all of our new skills together into some gorgeous layouts!  There will even be a special template for constructing fun alphas for your pages included this week.
