Do you love contests?

Friday, April 16th, 2010

I just came across this the other day and thought someone might be interested.  A cool site – Scrappity-Do-Dah – is having a CT contest.  A Creative Team (CT) is a group of people who work to promote a site and its products.  They get to work with the kits and elements from the site for free in exchange for creating awesome layouts, posting them around at different sites, and talking up all the great designers at the site.  Scrappity-Do-Dah has decided that instead of just having a CT call, they will have a contest.  Those who sign up will work through different challenges and such and at the end the “winners” will be the new Scrappity-Do-Dah creative team.  Wouldn’t that be fun?!  If you are interested though, head over there fast because sign-ups end tomorrow!  Here is a link to the sign up:

Sweet Shoppe Portfolios

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Ever since I started digi scrapping I’ve been addicted to challenges, both participating in them and leading them.  Whenever I’m stuck in my scrapping I turn to one of two things: templates or challenges.  Today I’d like to show you some of the great challenges at one of my favorite digi sites: Sweet Shoppe Designs.

Each month they post a huge list of challenges which they refer to as their portfolio challenges.  The challenges are mostly worth 1 or 2 points each, with a few being 5 points or even 10 points.  Throughout the month you simply work on the challenges that inspire you and post previews and links for them in their forum.  Then at the end of the month they total up your points and if you have enough you get a coupon to their store: 10pts=20%off, 20pts=30%off, and 30pts=40%off.  The only catch really is that you have to use mostly products from their shop in your layouts.

You can check out April’s great portfolio challenges here.

And here are a couple of the challenges that seem super fun to me and a layout someone has already done with them:
